I've been a little out of it for a while so need an upgrade (getting ready for vista), is this a good setup for cost/speed efficiency? I want x2 as I am a prolific multitasker, not a huge gamer but do use photoshop and may want to use vista aero.

is skt 939 better value? Also whatabout the non NF2ness of the mobo?

Shuttle SK22G2 AM2 - £134
Corsair 1GB DDR2 Value Select PC6400 (2x512MB) - £71
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200 - £91 (special offer Ocuk)
Using integrated graphics (Geforce 6100)

I have HDD/DVDRW etc already

£305 total

I will be fishing around for 2nd hand parts too.

Cheers guys:)

Socket 939 is discontinued/EoL. Better go for AM2, though what's your budget? Because C2D would be the wiser choice to go for if budget allows :)

Also, there's OcUK 1GB (2x512MB) PC2-6400 800MHz which is faster for less, though (again) for intended use you should aim for 2GB ;)

EDIT: That case has VIA DeltaChrome 128-bit 2D/3D graphics engine integrated graphics not 6100! Don't know how that will fair with Vista especially with Aero!

Nice spot on the cheaper RAM and the VIA integrated graphics - that looks horrible!

I am trying to go for the more budget option so probably x2 is the way to go?

Changing cases howabout the SN21G5 SKT939? It has the Geforce 6100 and can take x2, and has the quiet cooling of the shuttle.

or is there a better budget case with faster integrated graphics?

for your intended use 2gb is a must i feel.

for the gfx just get a cheap pci-e card ....

c2d would be sensible if using photoshop too:)

It seems there really arent many options, I am quite dissapointed!

Was looking for an AM2, silent, small mobo/case with decentish graphics, and they seem v hard to find.
