Bank withdrawal Q?

Thank you - simple answer and the reasoning was all I was after. Basically this person uses the money buy drugs instead of looking after their kids and the police are aware but the drug workers etc only ignore the use of drugs to keep the levels of methadone low so it looks good on their reports..... it's all coming to a head very soon but it was just something I was curious on.

To me it just seems simple to do it my way, in the care of people who care, but also with people who have a moral obligation in their business rather than spend 6months going through court as the person might be dead by then.

Thanks all.

If the drug use is getting to the point where the persons state of mind could be considered compromised then court of protection could certainly be a consideration under the mental capacity act, I believe. Might be worth considering.

If it is drug misuse then they'll just find another way to get the money or their supply and potentially put themselves at more risk in doing so.

It isn't the banks' responsibility.

Trust me they have agreed to a lot worse than this and it's questionable whether they are in the correct frame of mind to have a bank account in the first place.

I'm just curious people so if you say no then i'll leave it there.

You're better off trying to work the mental health angle with the local authorities if you genuinely believe that to be the case. If the person is legally of sound mind then the bank won't deny them access to their own account.

It can be done to an extent but you would lose the ability to use a debit card and cheque book.

You can go into the bank with the person and have a semi block put onto the account so when they withdraw money in the bank the cashier will get a note up on his/her screen to check customer notes before withdrawing any funds. If in the customer notes it states that you need to be present because the customer has mental issues and doesn't understand then the cashier will not process the withdrawal.

This kind of thing is common for people with bipolar. I understand this person is on drugs and that's the reason, however it maybe worth a shot...

It can't be done without the proper process being followed. Putting "notes on accounts" is not due process and will not achieve what the OP is looking for. There is no such thing as a "semi block".

Mods close thread please.

The reason for asking was thinking outside the box. In 10years the police (hands tied unless illegal things happen) and authorities have known but the drug workers have been a complete waste of time as each one undoes everything the last one has done.
