Banned WOW Account

I was interested in seeing how these "Bot" programs actually work so I decided to download one and look at its interface.

I have 2 natural lvl 60's and would never intend of using on. So, installed the program and had a little fiddle, the next thing I knew it loaded up WOW, nothing was different so I just played my game as usual.

Tried to log in this morning to find that my account has been banned and cannot be used ever again!? I emailed them and they gave me the reason of me using a third party program.... It must have been active for like 2 minutes and the reason it was active is because I didn't realise it was running in the background?

I tried calling them and speaking to someone but you can only contact them via email, they have emailed me once and I have replied but I am getting no response? I would never intend of using the program as I was unaware that it was running in the background!?

Any help at all, maybe this is a good time to quit the game :)

Take it as a sign and join the ex-WoW addicts anonymous, after 2 weeks of cold turkey you'll be slagging it off with the best of us :p

I think you have to ask yourself if you really want to pay £30 to do it all again, i can assure you that Blizzard won't give you your account back or your characters as they take a zero tolerance approach.

Welcome to the club brother :D

Blizzard Spyware > U

From what I read the spyware in WoW is nothing to worry about unless you have a habit of leaving windows open that contain your credit card details. Even then, Blizzard would have to have some dodgy staff for anything to happen.

Doesn't it just check the stuff you're running in the background to make sure you're not running any cheats etc?

I wouldn't worry about the 'spyware' in WoW, it's going to a big company, and its purpose isn't collecting CC details.

That's what the WoW 'spyware' does unfortunately, checks the stuff you're running and bans you if you have any cheats running. If you manage to contact or phone them and tell them what you have told us then there's no chance you'll get your account back, I'm sure a lot of people have tried that excuse to get out of being ban

That's one of the reasons I stopped playing WoW, the spyware was getting so intense that the game became unplayable on linux :( (also the fact the game takes over your life)

I guess some people don't know or don't care about the spyware in WoW, but there have been tests and it does get the address of websites you go on. So if you go on allakazam (or whatever it's called) blizzard's server suddenly goes on the exact address, downloads and cache's the page.

We tested it out on one of our domains, alt+tab'd out of wow and went onto one of our domains, to a specific page. The next minute we checked the log and what do you know, the blizzard server had accessed that exact page  . This was using firefox.
We also tried with a custom processgaurd, but because of the way warden works, it got past that :(.

So, could they trace what I have been doing before and after that time? The program must have been active for like 2 minutes and I was unaware that the program was running in the background!

I have emailed them back but I have to wait for a response as the cues I imagine are pretty high.

I supose this would be a good time to stop playing altogether :)

unlucky dude

i say get a new copy of wow and do it all again by the time TBC comes out you will be getting all new armour just the same as everyone else playing all there full Tier 2/3 will be usless for everyone in game

Installing a cheat or even just having it on your machine is just as bad, blizzards warden thingy just checks what programs are currently running and if a cheat/bot program appears in that list is flags your account as dodgy. Even if that application had nothing to do with WoW if its a known cheat/hack you will get suspended or banned.

unlucky though dude, time to claim back irl i guess. little point trying to contact blizzard about it once they say no they mean it and nothing you can do will change that.
