Barbour Jackets...yea or nay?

They are well made, plain, don't scream show off but not really on the cutting edge of fashion.

I can only ever see Barbour as being a wax jacket, I'm sure they make other good jackets but I've got a mental block against seeing them as making something else. It's as if you've taken away their raison d'etre by picking another style but I know nothing about fashion.

barbour quilted jackets and their look alikes are common as muck here amongst townie college types. wouldn't be caught dead in one, at least get one of the classic quality waxed barbours or get a nice coat if you want to look like an adult.

Unless you have a genuine interest in purchasing one of the other wax/hunter jackets, I'd avoid altogether.

Waxed jackets are practical in that they keep the rain & wind out, but I couldn't stand the smell of mine. I gave it to my dad who uses it when he goes out horse riding.

If you have a good figure, why hide it? The cut of it isn't that great.
If you want something no one has, why get this?
It's not CHEAP.
It's very dull looking.
It doesn't really go with anything.

Granted, it is very inoffensive.

Barbour jackets like the one in the op are quickly becoming the new burberry. Sitting at the football today and there were a ridiculous number of people wearing those jackets.

Oh jesus christ calm your beans, they look nice, I somehow manage to get a fair amount of "I like your jacket" from way more stylish females than myself in my very generic american apparel barbour style jacket.

Also, ++ if you live in London, its so beautifully warm.

I quite like this, a Chelsea Sportsquilt from Barbour.

I'm 30 and have decided to try and drop the perma-teen look and dress more my age. I'm thinking either olive or blue. What say you fashion gurus of OcUK? What are your feelings on this piece of clothing?
