barbs and cable ties

Personaly I would not recommend it, I would rather use jubilee clips, you can clamp them down a lot better and wont break easy.

for 7/16th" tubing on 1/2" barbs it is fine. I do that myself.

thanks guys, i have 3/8th tubing and barbs, the fit is extremley tight without any kind of clamp. and the barbs have like a stepped pattern on them. jubilee clips would have to be very thin to get a good mate with the surface, like thinner than a mans wedding ring. i will check my hardware store

The humble cable tie (or zip tie) can make an effective and cheap hose clamp. Because of the low pressures involved in most water cooling setups it is not vital that hoses are clamped to industrial levels of pressure, and if you don't wish to purchase some specially made clamps, then a cable tie can usually let you get the job done with a minimum of fuss.

Cable ties are also useful for helping to straighten out kinks in hosing. Just tighten them firmly around the kinked hose area and they will help the hosing to hold its circular shape.

Just re-blumbed my entire rig with 7/16" Masterkleer and ½" barbs and used no clamps or ties whatsoever. There's no way it could leak - hell, I had to cut the tubing to get it off!

over time the tubing will stretch, if you have any tight angles it's better to use cable ties to be safe.
