Barcelona delay could hurt AMD earnings


A Citigroup analyst says that AMD will delay it's launch of the Barcelona quad-core Opteron processor from July until October and that the move will hurt the company’s earnings.

"Barcelona is generally viewed to be AMD's best opportunity to stem server share loss to Intel. While AMD's recent notebook win at Toshiba may balance any negative revenue implications to our current model, Barcelona's delay has negative implications for AMD's gross margin," Yeung wrote.

Well i not waiting that long, my x2 went bang so using a old 3000 at moment will try and wait until july 22 but don't think i can as half my stuff is waiting for me to upgrade.

Was always due September for the desktop versions.... so 1 month aint so bad.

The workstation versions due next month thru to September should give us a glimpse of whats to come.
