Barcelona Incident

Thanks for reaffirming your point.

Bit wasted though as I already changed my viewpoint earlier when you provided those other links.

There's idiots everywhere (person in the link, not you).

In other news it looks like the vehicle rental industry and government are looking into seeing if they can hook their systems up to police and security service lists. That way suspicious people can be flagged and refused the hire of a vehicle if needed.

Seems a reasonable and proportionate response to the issue, which won't inconvenience a majority just because of their name or religion and cover all terrorist suspects, not just those form some people "favourite" religion.

The solution is a sliding scale between effectiveness and palatability. We all choose where we as individuals sit on that scale.

That's not the point. Yes, some religions do have more violent adherents than others. However, if you got rid of their religions they'd find some other outlet, excuse, whatever for their violence.

what are you basing this on?

by this logic all the soldiers who killed in ww1&2 would have killed people anyway had there not been a war as an excuse for thier violence ...

see why it's a nonsense point now?

Quite, but don't complain when you're called out to defend a position that isn't supported by society as a whole.

(Not specifically aimed at you).

Yep not terrorism related because he has mental problems.

If it was a muslim then definitely a terrorist attack. But that goes without saying doesn't it??

To me and perhaps it's a simplistic view, anyone who goes out to intentionally kill innocent people in the name of religion or a political ideology...to me that's still terrorism whether its religion based or political based.

Eh? Humans are violent beings, war or no war. People will always fight and injure and kill each other. It's nothing to do with war or religion. It's human nature, and it isn't going to change any time soon.

You think no one has ever killed anyone outside war or religious terrorism? Come off it.

The savings in legal and incarceration costs made by Spain's Draconian approach to dealing with these terrorists must be massive, I am impressed and thinking of forgiving them for bull fighting and Salvador Dali. Lot to be said for routine arming of the police in these times of holy war.

Did you forget the UK attacks this year where the police killed the attackers?

but you're not saying humans in general. you're saying without thier religion these people would have killed anyway.

they wouldnt.

same as if ww2 never happened millions of men wouldnt have become killers

do you think the crews of the planes that fire bombed dresed would have been torching people in the streets if they didn't have ww2 as an "excuse" as you put it
