received a letter today from barclaycard telling me i have been selected to test out the new paytag.

apparently im in an exclusive group of less that 1% of the population!

anyone else had a letter with this?

it says i should get my tag in 6-8 weeks. is basically a sticker that you can stick were ever and use it to pay.

it suggests the back of your phone.

only problem is, i think ive seen one place that does the contactless payment...

I didn't get offered the paytag but I just got my new business card from them which has contactless payment. But again... I think EAT is the only place I've ever seen it. Limited to £15 as well I think?

Yeah I got this the other day, did you go for the personalised card utajoker? It's the only thing I've done recently in terms of applying to Barclays for something.

no, just normal usage.

sticker is a bit big and ugly but it will come in useful as i dont always carry money/wallet but i always have phone.

could stick it to the inside of a phone cover then it isnt visible or stuck to the phone.

I got one of these invites the other day too. I don't know if I'll use it when I've just cleared my balance. Use my debit card for everything.

Yup I got the letter also - Unless it's a transparent sticker though I can't see it working very well... I'm still hopeful the next iPhone this year will have NFC technology :)

Wonder what the range is on the signal from these? If it's touch only then what's stopping people from brushing past you with "terminals" charging you? Unlike phone's with NFC surely the signal is there all the time?

I've heard of a scam where people walk around in a crowded area (Such as Victoria Station) and bump into people. At the same time, they're holding onto a device and brush it against your leg pocket (Against your wallet), hoping to nick £15 each time :p

No I think you can use it to buy anything small from pretty much every shop in HK. Coffee, papers, snacks etc and on their entire transport system (like the oyster card).

Octopus card is pretty much the same as an Oyster, you top it up then use it for public transport - but lots of other shops accept it too.

7-11, McDonalds and lots of others !

Would be great if supermarkets implemented it on the self service. But haven't seen it yet.

I know one Tesco Express in Docklands that have it on their payment terminals. When my friend tried to use his Barclaycard on it it sometimes worked and sometimes didnt.

I also got this letter and I also recently got a customised card.

I called Barclays earlier and told them I don't want it, there is no way I'm sticking anything to my phone.
