I need to print some custom barcodes for items which dont have barcodes on them. Is it simply a case of obtaining a barcode font or is there more too it than that?

I had a quick search but not 100% on what I should be going for. There seems to be a few online generators but you dont appear to be able to save the barcode image after it has been created and I want them all on one page(s) in a folder at the till

Thanks

What is it for exactly?

There are free barcode fonts out there, but if an item is to be sold in a shop, it MUST be a GSC registered barcode.

Its for things in the shop that dont come with a barcode on them, ie custom merchandise we have printed that we sell a lot of (tshirst, hats, towels etc)

They are only sold via the one shop so dont think they will need to be registed as its purely for internal use?

Thanks

Depends what you plan on doing with the barcode, as above if its EAN8/13 and going on a product then the number has to be registered with the governing body.

If its just got stock taking purposes inhouse then things are a little simpler.

If they are just to tally with you're internal stock taking system then the barcode choice really depends what you need to encode and the amount of space you have to encode it. Along with your scanners ability to decode.

Its not a physical barcode as in printed on the shirt or the label its for our own line of clothing etc that we have hanging behind the counter. When someone asks for a black XL hooide we want to be able to open the "barcode book" flick through to the hoodie page and scan the black XL one so it brings up the price on our till and adjusts the stock accordingly.

This is the scanner we have, single line apaprently

You can save them from the online generators
right-click, save as

This is the barcode font I use at work to create scannable asset number lables which I make in word (mail merge) - so I guess you can use it in whatever program you are printing from :)
