looking for a barcode software, ive looked around google for free software and found loads but dont know which is best.

would like to print of several barcodes on 1 sheet to save paper and printing.
our till is easy as we can jsut type the code in and it will use it for plu codes.

any suggestions please

You don't need any special software as you can do it with Word or anything else you can produce text with. Just install a barcode font, select it in the document and type.

I would suggest this one as it is totally free and doesn't have any potentially nasty install program. Instead just gives you a the font.

But only really code 3 of 9 as that is just a pure symbology barcode. Other barcodes will incorporate a check digit amongst other things and this requires a calculation to be performed, so Its not always just a case of install the font and type out your barcode.(unless you have precalculated your check digits. etc)

Well calculating check digits isn't difficult, but I assumed form what he said about his till simple 3 of 9 would suffice.

Yup. We use 3of9 to produce barcodes at work. Great little font.

If you require a free scanner/reader, you can get a scanner app for Nokia phones - and I assume the same for iPhones and the like :)
