hi,

im looking to build a cheap, but quick pc, based around a good proccessor and 4 gig ram. what processor would you suggest which is worth the best value in terms of overclocking

thanks

The ram is a 6gb kit, keep the third on the side as backup...

The other option is to pick up a used 775 setup from auctions and the MM.

Mobo p45 chipset based, decent ddr2, and something like an E8400 or E7200

E5200, Gigabyte P31-ES3G, 4GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM. Total cost sub £150 if you shop around and the exact same spec on my cousins PC running happily at 3.75Ghz 1.351v :D

Hawker

I was going to suggest the E5200. Can overclock very nicely to around 3.7GHz which is great for the money.

Also, a few months back Custom PC mag showed it as the best bang for buck CPU you can buy, it really is a pretty good CPU :)
