Hello

Has anyone tried these blocks? They look pretty good, also very cheap. But, I can't seem to find a review on them.

Thinking of getting one for me 12700k

Can't say I've used the block myself but everything Barrow I've had has been great quality and performed well!

Having had a quick look, I don't like the look of it but I can't see any problems. There's likely only a few degrees difference between this and the heatkiller blocks as an example.

Yeah any block does the job pretty well in a custom loop. I'm ideally looking for a white block with a white led bit I can't seem to find anything that fits the bill

Yes you would need the CORSAIR iCUE RGB Lighting Controller. Which is sold separately. Unfortunately, unless you want to look and take a chance on the Chinese equivalent of the Rainforest and try a no name brand the Corsair is your only option in white.

That said you could buy whatever block you wished and if you have any skill with spray paint you could get the look you want.

It's more the white light I want. Ek do a white block but there's no rbg or white light.

I might look into the Chinese controller. Cheers for that

Appreciate you asked a month ago, but I have the Barrow Composite block (black acetal and brushed metal) from the same range and it's been absolutely flawless.

I've ended up buying the block.

It's still in the box unopened. Just getting bits bit by bit. Waiting for the right card in my personal budget. Then I'll get it all on water.

But thanks for the reply.

Did it come with the 1700 bracket. The seller says it does, but I've seen it for sale separately so I'm sceptical.

Mine only came with the AM4 bits, as that's what I ordered.
Depends who/where you buy from - Barrow kit is on par with EK (imho), so if it's listed as included, best check the box.
There's official resellers who can supply anything that might be missing, but also quite a few drop-shippers, just adding a 25% mark-up with zero aftersales support.

Yeah I need to check really.

What's cooling like? I know there's not much in it from block to block but I've never really heard of barrow blocks. Usually get ek, heatkiller, xspc, koolance and probably others over the years.

I've used EK, Barrow & Heatkiller.
EK & Barrow performed equally well (3700X & 2080 Ti through 240 & 280mm rads) - CPU was 62°C under load, GPU (under a Phanteks block) was 66°C under load.

Heatkiller CPU block was slightly better (59°C), but that could have been down to a number of variables (better contact/thermal paste/more even distribution over the 4 springs & bolts, etc)

Optimus are frequently touted as the cream of the crop, but you do pay a hefty premium.

So long as you're using sufficient radiator surface area & pump speeds for your components, block choice doesn't really make that much difference (provided it's not some £20 Chineseium knock-off).

Yeah I'll be using 2x360 always been plenty even with 2 GPUs.

I watched a review of a $20 block and the best ek CPU blocks.

From the top of my head.... It was like 2c different on the top ek blocks with £100 difference on price. Then something like 8c difference from the cheapest ek block to the $20 block.

Personally I wouldn't trust the cheap block. But would be worth it if you wanted to dip your toes into water cooling

Hi, bit late to the party but for future reference you don't need a commander thingy to use corsair blocks and pumps.
I've got a corsair cpu block, gpu block and pump. They daisy chain for the ARGB and come with an adaptor so you can plug them into a motherboard ARGB header.
I've got the temp probe that came with the pump plugged into the motherboard and use Argos monitor to control the fans according to water temp.
I don't have any RGB fans, if I did I'd have looked at the commander thingy.
