It is that time of the year where I need to upgrade the engine of my machine (and everything else that goes with it). The only thing I want to know is if the money I pour into it is justified from the performance boost I will see.

Currently the main games I play on my rig are WoW, HL2, DoD and CS source and a few RTS games like Dawn of War 40k, rome total war.

I know that i will see a performance increase but considering that I am going for a dual core CPU is it worth it or should I just get a single core CPU with a higher clock speed ?

Can i expect to see a markedly high increase in Frame rates for all of the games I have listed above by using a dual core CPU ?

I was thnking of getting the Asus A8N-SLi Se and then slaping 1gig or maybe 2 (depending on money) Geil 3200ddr ram in it

Have u got your heart set on getting AMD again or are u open to suggestions?

I am always open to suggestions :P depending on how deep my pockets are of course :)

The key thing for me now is to get a system that will be good for at least another 18 months - 2 years before I need to upgrade again.
