I read all the threads about do I need 4gb and so on but I want to know based on my spec if it’s worth getting another 2gb ram

Vista 64
AMD 5200 @ 2.7GHz
Abit an52
8800GTS BFG
And 2GB of this stuff

I mostly play call of duty 4 and will be playing burnout when it’s done

So do I get 2 more sticks or not?

thanks

Thanks for the quick reply Stu
I guess it would help with Photoshop. And the general video editing programs I use and with gaming

I just needed to justify it for my self :o

ta!

Vista 64 likes the extra RAM so general performance should improve...

So either you can go to Vista 32 and stay with 2GB or get 2GB more and stay with 64 IMO.

If you can afford it, you'll get a much bigger performance boost from 8Gb than from 4Gb.

nah 8GB is wayy OTT for me

Because of the way Vista 64-bit works 4Gb can actually be slower than 2Gb and you only really see the speed increases with 8Gb or more. There is a very good article from Anandtech about it, explaining why the 64-bit word-length actually needs more RAM and how it uses 2Gb, 4Gb and 8Gb+.

Even if that was the case 8GB is faster then 4GB I am sure thats based on benchmarking of some sort, of what i dont do :)
