Basic cad program?

I am currently planning an extension and am specifying things like underfloor heating and bifold doors.

For quotes I have been asked to send in some basic drawings so what would be a good package for basic scale drawings, am I right in thinking I need a cad package or would something else suffice?

All I am after is supplying things like a basic floor plan.

I am thinking Google SketchUp might be what you want, not used it myself but I think it is easy to learn. Normally a pencil drawing will suffice as long as you have all of the dimensions on it, it's just so they can give you a good idea of the materials you need.
