Basic Group Messaging & Assignable Tasks?

Hello,

I'm looking for some SW to do group messaging to external field staff but the same client would need a option we can assign tasks to the employee. They could just click a box confirming they have completed said check?

I can use Skype/Outlook but would like it just in 1 app to save people going all over the place.

So a combination of Atlassian JIRA and Hipchat can do this. Create tasks in JIRA, assign them to people and get the workflow to automatically post a message in a Hipchat room mentioning the person assigned and with a link to the JIRA issue. Your field agents then just keep an eye on the Hipchat room, which in concept is a bit like a group Skype chat. Assignment comes in, they click on the link which takes them to JIRA where they hit a 'completed' button.
