I'll try to describe my home network.
I have been a computer programmer/analyst for 30+ years. I just have basic networking knowledge.

Currently, there are 2 networks 1 and 2.
  1. Virgin Media Cable Modem Hub 4, Serves the internet (DNS active)
    - PC connected
    - Printer connected
    - Network 2 Router/Hub - TP Link Deco (round WiFi hubs)
    - DCHP access locked, so I can't access it to change the gateway to point to the PiHole

  2. TP Link Deco (DNS active, different LAN address range and submask)
    - All other devices are connected to this network, due to getting 2 additional WiFi extending pods. To save my daughter continuing to complain to me.
My goal is to get an 8 port hub, and switch the cable modem into modem only mode. Then have network 2 take over the DNS service.

I intend to use PiHole to route all requests through, to filter out ad's and maybe take over DNS services. I have a spare Pi3+ (4gb) and Pi5 (8gb).

At the moment, I don't like the 2 separate networks, with devices unable to see others like the printer.

Any help and advice is much appreciated.
