Not built for a while and need to put something together for my daughter
Will be for general use. Some music recording but nothing crazy demanding
Some casual gaming @ 1080

Have PSU. Corsair Builder Series CX 500w - not sure if any connections have changed?
Have GFX - either AMD R9 270 or 280, can't remember
Have Monitor, KB etc
Have 120gb ssd but would probably like a 240 in there and then add a storage drive later
Have Blue-Ray drive but probably won't install it unless necessary

Need CPU, Cooler, Ram, Case, possible HDD

Thinking along the lines of a 2600 / 2600x system, 8gb ram, Small Form Factor
OC'ing not really necessary, would be more out of interest for me for when I upgrade my PC

Thinking £400-450

EDIT: It is replacing a AMD A8-5600K Black Edition 3.60GHz system

This where I got to on a quick look without much research
Not sure on Ram speed. Would the extra for 3200 be worth it? Is there an option to drop to the 2600 and get close to the 2600x performance?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £463.61 (includes shipping: £11.70)

I don't think storage will be a massive issue at this stage. The 120gb SSD in the current pc isn't full. There is plenty networked storage in the house
On the ram speeds, how low would not really be noticeable then? 2400?

Also, who's got a case recommendation?

Did cross my mind also. Some of the Bitfenix matx cases look quite nice also but are more expensive. If we go that way, then perhaps the non-x cpu will be the one

Thanks for the replies also.
