Basic HTPC, do I need a sound card?

My PC has no internal HDMI/SPDIF header to connect to the graphics card so that sound may be transmitted through the HDMI connection. Is there a soundcard available with this connection on it? Alternatively is there any low tech solution available? - I'm just using the telly speakers for the audio, so was just wanting to use HDMI for convenience rather than quality.

I think the Xonar D2/D2X have SPDIF.
