Basic laptop with a great screen?

Hi all,

I need a new laptop, but my use case (basic) makes me want to not spend a lot...however I have a requirement for a decent screen.

Current laptop is a early 2015 Macbook pro with retina display. So I am used to a really sharp, high pixel density screen.

I have a work laptop which is new this year, Lenovo X395 and the screen is awful in comparison to the 5 year old MacBook Pro

Now my use case:

- Travel, so lightweight, decent battery
- Browse internet
- Watch Twitch and youtube, Netflix

Wants

- Decent battery
- Decent construction
- Screen as mentioned already

I think a solid laptop to go for would be a Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 or 3 - depending on what I can get - however this is at least a grand and its more than I want to spend really. (although if there is no suitable alternative, then sod it)

Any ideas/suggestions? Is what I want possible but cost less than the Surface Laptop? Oh and 13" max size please

I was going to say Surface Laptop 3 - on Black Friday I'd expect the i5/8GB model to be less than £1000

Yeah I am just checking local retailers now, and they're already doing 23% off - making the 128gb 8gb i5 model 870eur - which is very appealing.

The random thought that popped into my head is what about chromebooks - given my use case, this might not be such a bad idea? hmm

Microsoft has a new budget laptop - Surface Laptop Go starting from £549.00. But the screens on Surfaces are not very good, all use PWM.
