I have one XP pro machine and one XP Vista Premium machine. Big CAT 5 crossover cable. Would like to network between the two. Have machines static IP's of 192.168.0.5 and 192.168.0.9, both on subnet of 255.255.255.0, XP machine can see Vista machine but seems to hang when trying to access? Lastly, have router upstairs (XP) connected to the web - would like computer downstairs (vista) to share internet connection as wireless signal is really crap. What do I need to set the defautl gateway? the IP of XP machine?
Vista machine does not see XP machine. Basically, Vista machine before upgrade, was on XP pro and it worked fine using cable and same IP settings. No firewalls other than built in ones?
