Hi guys, i just have one very stupid question. I have pretty much finished my girlfriends website which i made by bundling my way through dreamweaver and now it is ready to upload. I have uploaded it to the hosting site etc and it is there. However when i type in the address www.emmaboxall-gray.com it takes you to the directory thing. check it out to see what i mean.

From there you can browse the site etc and it is all good.

My question is how do i make it so when i type in the address it goes to home page?

Cheers

Dave

should have said I am using ukhost4u and it is a cpanel interface.

Cheers guys.

Like robmiller said i used nested block quotes because i have no clue really what i am doing. I used them to indent the text. What is the best way to do this.

yeah the art work is a bit wierd but im not an artist so i don't really comment to her.

Mammalian- I noticed this also. However if i have nav. bar spaced the same through all pages then it does the same in internet explorer i.e the artists statement is at a different position. Highly frustrating. Any clue why this is?

Cheers guys for your comments

Dave

p.s. I have taken the site back down to do some more changes etc so i guess this thread is a bit dead.

Cheers guys.

Use CSS to give the element you want to indent a left margin. If you're not familiar with CSS, there's a good introduction here. That site has a great HTML tutorial too if you want to learn more about that—it's probably best to do "HTML Beginner", then "CSS Beginner", then see how you advance after that.

Don't like how the menu appears as a single word. Also, isn't xhtml valid either (x11 errors - easy enough to fix i supposed) :(

thanks rob. i will check them out for tips and tricks.

I have solved the issue with firefox i think and have put the text on the artists statement in a table instead which removes the need for indents/block quotes.

suarve- what do you mean by the menu appears as a single word? And what errors do you see. like i said in my original post I am the ultimate noob when it comes to this sort of thing so any help/tips etc would be good.

Cheers

Is that "art" a joke lol? Its like primary school drawings :p

it ain't that bad, remember art doesn't always have to look good to be good art.

i think he means one sentence, in that each link is the same distance so it's hard see where one ends and one begins if that makes sense. so try adding a bit more spacing between each link should sort it out. however as said read about html and css tbh before you continue, then start small using what you have just learned

Cheers mamillian. I have had a look at those tutorials which will come in useful. I will space them out a bit more and see how that looks.

Overall though for my first attempt im pretty happy with the way it looks even though the coding is probably rubbish.

And on the art thing she is a jewellery maker not a painter or anything so she ain't monet.

I don't know, you way have wanted it to appear how it does as its not an per se. IMO the top menu looks looks too shunted together, had to look a few times before i realised it wasn't a single word :)
