basic router for use with VM modem

Hi

I need a basic router that will work with a VM router in modem mode. Wifi performance is not important as there is a Unifi AP used for that. The only requirement is that it must have 4 x gigabit lan ports.

What do you suggest? The cheaper the better.

Why would you want to connect a 'basic' router to the VM hub?

How would this be better than leaving the VM hub configured as router but with the wireless switched off?

If you're needing additional ports a cheap Gigabit switch is the answer.

If you really feel that you need to add a router what does it need to offer that the VM hub doesn't?
