Basic spec check for cheap pc - would like to order today

Hi all.

Im looking at upgrading the kids pc.

Dual core E6600
2gb corsair
intel IP35 board.

I have had a few issues with it recently, needs a new hard drive fitting and all software loading due to several currupted files and other problems. Have done before , but it has never been the same .

I have a new hdd

Will use the old bits-
Power supply
Antec 900 case
8800 gts card
Xp 32 bit.

I was looking at this bundle
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-188-OK

I dont want to anything to much over £200 ( just spent £1200 on my new rig, the wife will go nuts if i spend more)

The system will be mainly used for school work, surfing the net, music and a little bit of gaming ( only basic stuff, they use an xbox)

Any thoughts or changes greatly recieved . Im not looking at overclocking this system, adding sli,or messing about with it . Dont mind seperate components and build myself if i can get better spec. Not too sure on Amd stuff, Im an Intel man normaly, but spec versus £ i think I will get more with Amd.
thanks

I'd say thats an ideal bundle. You save a nice bit of ££ by buying it like that as the X4 840 is currently more expensive than the X4 955 black edition.

I used one of these the other day, I will note that the AMD stock cooler is a lot louder than the stock intel one. so you might want to think about another cooler.

Reason I recommend that CPU is it much easier to overclock if you decided to in the future. If you 100% know your not going to overclock then the one you linked is perfect but do what R088ieS86 said and get another cooler.

With the other CPU you need to overclock just by raising the FSB, the multiplier is fixed.

A BE CPU has an unlocked multiplier so you can increase this instead and leave the FSB alone, or do a bit of both.

Ok thanks again, i take it then that nuttyprot spec is probably the best sub £200 spec i can get.
i take it the asus mb is the better option.

what overclock do you think i would be able to get easily with that set up + antic cooler.

will place order asap as want it for weekend.

Thanks guys

thanks guys,
order placed for delivery tommorow.
went with nuttprots spec in the end.
Hope this build goes as well as my sandbridge one went, not overclocked it yet but soon.

Well recieved the order, all was well untill i noticed that the asus card is for a Micro x case . My Antec 900 case is a midi case I think, will the card fit or is it a case of Rma back to Ocuk.

I also see the memory is listed for intels more than Amd, is it better to rma this as well and get the Corsair memory -Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) [CMX4GX3M2A1600C9]

Want advice please before i phone Ocuk.
thanks
