Hello,

First time posting in this section...

My current router (an old VM standard issue Netgear WNR2000) keeps dropping connections and is getting pretty hot during use.

Its currently connected to the Virgin Modem box and hard wired to the pc. It usually has a few phones / ipads connected to it, main pc games / downloads from wired connection...

Soooo I need a new router to replace my old standard issue one, I'm on 120mb line and have a pc wired to it. No real budget but keeping it in double digits would be good.

Cheers

Adam

If you call and say that you are on really old hardware, they may give you one for free. It will replace both the modem and router you have, so at least it will cut down on one device.

They will try to push a £50 charge for "install", but given that you have old gear, I'd imagine they will be more willing to give it to you.

We have the D-link AC Router http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-165-DL&groupid=46&catid=1596 on our system along with the rest of the D-link range. They are good routers. You can also control them via an app on your phone. Very handy for limiting the connections to the wifi if needed. Especially kids.

It also have a gigabit switch at the back for faster connections for you wired PC.

It all depends on your needs and budget I guess but this is a middle of the road Router with the wireless AC built in.

Im amazed you dont already have a SH2 with a 120Mb connection.
Don't let Virgin charge you for it, tell them you'll install it yourself and job done.

Get the super hub and pair it with a dlink
The range is not great with the hub
