In XP, when lookin at the contents of a drive/folder, you have an "up" icon to go one level up in the directiory structure, as well as the "back" explorer style icon

In Vista, I can't find an "up" icon ? Quite annoying. It must be there surely...

I think the Vista system is much better. As said it allows you go to back x number of folders not just one, with a single click. :)

OK, but where / what is the "breadcrumb bar"

In the address bar, if you click the folder names it will take you back to that folder. And if you click the arrows, it will display a drop down box, with other folders on that level.

There is no Windows-Explorer-style split pane viewing in Vista??

Any other method is just lame. :p
