Hi,

I work close to Denham, just off the M40, missus just got a job in Southampton. Just looking at where to live, Basingstoke is bang smack on the M3, so looking there at moment.

Does anyone do a similar journey - Basingstoke to M40 area everyday? Google tells me it's about an hour, up the M3, round the M25 and onto the M40. But.... I'd want to arrive about 8am, so am guessing I'd be travelling up the M3 and round the M25 along with everyone else that time of morning. How unrealistic is an hour!?

Also - is Basingstoke a OK place?

Cheers

Yeah really doesn't sound plausible in an hour, especially when you're approaching rush hour. Anything to do with the M25 at that time is generally something you want to avoid.

it will be more than an hour unless you do not hit a single stretch at rush hour.
that stretch of the M25 can be a right nightmare.

Also just like to add that my experience of Basingstoke is that it's a chav filled hole.

If you leave at 6 you will be fine. Any later and its hard going. Coming home wont be fun. Also depends where you live in basingstoke as getting onto the m3 from the wrong side can take 30 mins at least in traffic. Basingstoke to Southampton is not fun either and train is the quickest option depending on times. Can you give more details of where in Southampton she will be working.
