Anyone know any sites where I can buy AA & AAA batteries in bulk cheapish? I'm looking at buying 30+ of each for work.

Ring some local electronic distributors - IIRC Duracell have a professional brand you can buy in bulk (ProCell?)

I think Ann Summers do mains-powered ones these days so you could save a bit of cash by buying one of those. :p

Those pound shops are very good. I can get about 10 each for a £1 they are more than worth the £1 they cost.

Pound shop batteries are very, very bad though - most don't even have a fraction of a charge they claim - check some tests on youtube.

If you buy cheap batteries - you get cheap batteries. As he said - steer clear of the pound shop batteries unless they are for remote controls or something similar. And if you insist on buying cheapo batteries & leaving them in a device for any extended period of time - don't be surprised if they rupture and possibly destroy the items battery bay or casing.

Even the "cheapest" Procter & Gamble batteries (some people call them Duracell) which people insist on buying (because they are always on offer and people really don't know any different) - are very poor by some other battery standards.

I assume you are looking for alkaline rather than 'standard' ones?

If so one of the pound shops sells a pack of six Kodak xtralife (which I believe is a fairly well respected brand) alkaline batteries for £1, although I am sure some folks will have found somewhere cheaper!

Indeed they do and yes they are called ProCell.
May be able to get them at your local professional power tools shop, that's where I get mine or, as mentioned, your local electrical distributers such as CEF, Edmunds Walker or Denmans......find a shop that the trades use and you should find them there.

or from major online retailers at very decent prices:

Duracell Procell AA Box Of 10 Batteries = £4.50

Once you use eneloop/vapex LSD batteries you won't go back to single use batteries again. They even perform better than some single use batteries.
