So many varieties of battery and copies etc I'm looking for a specific recommendation for my flash gun

Looks like eneloop are recommended but again lots of specifications!

The white one seem to be general recommendation.

What do you guys use?

Eneloops for everything I own.

Black/pro ones are higher capacity but less recharges.
White ones are good all round
Lite ones are low capacity

White ones are the best bet IMO.

With Eneloops - Panasonic ones are newer if you're looking on the Rainforest and confused as to why there are Panasonic and Sanyo branded ones (pan bought san a few years ago or something).

So I'm looking for the 1900mah ones by Panasonic?

The less capacity the lower the resistance if I understand with these ni-mh?
The high capacity ones are very much more pricey

At least I know now that my flash lasted so. Little time before as I was using alkaline batteries

I use cheapish Duracell ones. Pretty good, last a long time when being used. But they seem to lose a lot of charge when left unused for a while. Not a problem, if you remember to charge them before a shoot though.
