Really strange problem this one that i've been having this issue with my p35-ds3p board since i got it. I'm running an e8500 on it which is clocked to 4.2 and has been stable as a rock for over a year now other than about once every few weeks, BIOS kind of resets itself. It doesn't revert to defaults like you'd expect though...it still shows all my overclock settings in BIOS but they just aren't applied. If I try to change or reset them after clearing CMOS, they simply aren't saved or applied.

I figured out ages ago that the only way to fix it is to stick in a fresh battery. Like magic it will work perfectly again for a few weeks before the issue occurs once more. The only other telling thing that may help someone deduce a cause is that with my overclock set, the system time runs fast by about 4 minutes per day:confused:

If anyone would shed some light here on what might be going on I'd really appreciate it as I'd really not like having to grab a new board considering a new build will be happening as soon as intel get their finger out and give us the i9's!

I had this issue years ago on an old Foxconn board and it turned out to be a faulty board. A new CMOS battery resolved the issue for about a month and the problem kept returning again.

Ye seems like there might be a leaking capacitor or something that's draining the battery then. Don't have a meter to check if the battery is actually drained though so only a guess.

Looks like I'll be buying a huge box of batteries as there's no way I'm paying the best part of £100 quid for a new P35/P45 board just for a few months use. it's mental that the prices on the 775 boards have been bumped up to that again.

I'll have to check but I highly doubt it as it was bought nearly two years ago as a spare and was a B-grade item from ocuk. Ended up being my main board after I fried my asus. Wouldn't really want to RMA it anyway as I've no spare board to use while it's away.
