Battery power meter gone...

For some reason the little battery symbol in my taskbar has vanished. I am running XP home on my laptop. Has anyone got any idea how to get it back? I've tried right clicking and setting it to "always show" in the notification area customisation section, but it hasn't worked, despite restarting the computer. Has anyone got any ideas?

Assuming your not using 3rd party power management go to control panel->power options->advanced->always show icon on taskbar

Update! For some reason this happenns when I have antivirus software running, I've tried it with AVG, Avast and Avira and it's the same with all of them. If they are running a few tray icons disappear. Anyone know why?

i have the same problem, its quite annoying actually. im using av ira as my antivirus

Mine does this occasionally. A restart normally sorts it.

Nope, I've tried restarting, tried different AV software, all sorts-real pain! I mean it isn't the end of the world, but having to go into control panel to find out how long you have left is a little annoying!
