Battery-powered, door-sensor-triggered LED light strips?

I know very little about this sort of electronics project. Can anyone help me source the things needed for some automatic lighting for inside a safe?
 
Not quite what you're after but ikea do some wee battery powered LED lamps with a motion sensor in them. We've got a few in some cupboards and they come on when you stick your head in or worst case wave at them.
