Hi guys,

I find the iPhone 5 battery pretty woeful in that when I'm out I daren't use it for games, surfing the web etc in fear of the battery dying and I'm not able to receive calls etc. I find it so much worse than the 4G I had last.
My friends and colleagues don't see an issue with the battery which suggests it's maybe my phone. Is there anything I can take to Apple to give them stats on how bad it is? A tester or something?

I've used Whatsapp a few times today, probably totalling around 2 minutes and the battery is down to 56%, i've received two texts also, that's it. If I started playing a game the battery would be near 10% :p Hell, even when the battery says 6% and I try do something it usually shuts down saying it needs charging.

If the battery is this bad I'm thinking of changing it as I spend quite a lot a month on the phone and it's just pointless having that technology unless I carry my charger everywhere with me

First port of call is always to start fresh. Reset the phone, don't restore from an iCloud backup, and install all your applications from scratch (restoring pictures and whatnot will be fine).

Also worth ruling out each app one by one (likely that this is the issue).

After that, then start looking into getting it replaced.

One thing you might want to check are location services for apps and push notifications for mail boxes etc... an update might have changed some settings.

Restore it and then see, mine was awful until I did a restore as sometimes restoring from backup kills the battery for some reason

Thanks for the replies. I did do a restore a few weeks ago as the phone was jailbroken before and I thought the amount of cydia apps might of been the issue. So I restored the phone, installed the latest iOS and no change at all.

I could try again I guess. I have location disabled trying to save battery as well as my brightness turned right down! Having this phone is like owning a Ferrari and driving it at 10mph everywhere, complete waste

I'm going to get my wife's iPhone and compare them, fully charge them then leave them side by side opening the same apps etc and seeing what difference I get.

Usage 16 mins. Standby 1 hour, 3 mins.

Not sure how accurate that is as I've had it plugged into my PC etc this morning. I tend to leave it charging overnight.

restore it than set it as a new phone, dont use your backup off icloud or itunes, then try it out for a day.

I had the same issue with my iPhone 5 which was turning off before the battery got to 0%. It is a known issue and Apple will replace the phone for you. You should try a restore and setup as new before heading to the Apple shop as that's something they usually try and make you do first.
