One of the chores I hate is vacuuming. It doesn't help that the old vacuum is one of those you drag round behind you and it's always falling over, getting caught on corners have to lug it up and down the stairs. It's a pain to store and the cable no longer retracts.

I was interested in one of those you clip on a wall and charge.

I only do about 20-30 mins of vacuuming in a session.
Downstairs is hard floor. Upstairs is carpet. No pets.

Any suggestions?

These were the two I was looking at

Dyson v7 and vax blade (3 or 4)

My parents have just bought a Vax Blade 4, as my mum was having back issues dragging around a traditional cleaner. She absolutely loves the Blade 4. Does everything she needs and it isn't a major hassle pushing it, unlike the Miele cylinder vacuum she had before.

So looks like at least these seem decent.

I'll have a look at both.

Does the vax come with a wall mount? I'm not sure if this is a great idea or if I'll still bundle. It in a cupboard

How do these charge.
Looks like vax you have to take battery out and plug it in a charger.

Unsure how Dyson charges

Plugs into the unit, battery isnt removable unless its to be replaced due to failure.

You can get a slick looking dock or just plug the cable into the vacuum. No need to remove the battery.

And it is literally one screw, so very very easy and the Samsung battery replacements on Amazon are very good.

Shark here, which we're very pleased with.

You can either plug the cleaner itself in to charge, or there's a charging caddy you can slot the battery in to (which works well for us, because the best place to store the hoover has no plugs.)

We had an earlier Vax Blade, and it was terrible. Couldn't even pick up grit from a hard floor, the suction was so bad.

We've now got a Dyson, can't remember if it's a V6 or V7, and it's much better. The motor head on it helps a lot

I'll go for a Vax or a Dyson. This seems at least some progress.

Looks like newer models are better than old. (2 posts saying they had a bad version then newer version was better).

In which case, I may just make decision on price.
Vax seems cheaper. Charging system on Dyson seems better.

From here I can't really see any other differences

The hoover and shark versions look like they have a more awkward collector. I plan to use this on my keyboard/desk etc and the vax/dysons look a bit more compact?

Yeah unless you're comparing models with exact same battery capacity, then of course one will last longer than the other.

Last time i looked there was a big v11 model that i think had a 45 minute battery in normal mode.

I can't remember what model of dyson we've got, but i think it'll do a good 25 minutes on normal, and 10 minutes on turbo.

The wall mount is absolutely the best feature, you just hang it up when you're done and it'll charge away. It also holds some of the end accessories.

My only gripe with dyson is that it's not easy to empty the dust compartment. Perhaps because they've made them quite small, it means when you pull the lever to drop the lid, most of the rubbish (dust/hair) stays in the compartment. I just use a small stick to sweep around it to clear it all out. It's very easy to do, but is just something they haven't really thought of when it comes to using it in the real world.

So vax v4 is 150 (refurb) and the Dyson v11 is 500. More than 3x more. It definitely feels like the Dyson is better. But not 3x

Feels like a no brainer.

Been vacuuming today with old floor vacuum. And basically had enough!
