First of all, im extremly sorry for all of these noob questions i keep asking.

Anyway...

I havent had battle field 2 that long, and recently ive started playing it again, and im terrible at it, ive been getting like -20 scores and stuff.

Well, when i fly my plane and stuff, and when im in the air ill hear lots of beeping noises and a red cross will appear in the top right of my screen, what does this mean?

Also, when im in my plane, an enemy plane will fly past me and i shoot my missiles and it will totally miss the plane i planned to shut down, is there a button that will lock onto a plane i want to shoot down?

Thanks for all your help, i do appreciate it !!

First of all, nothing wrong with asking noob questions, but it is wrong making separate threads for them when there are existing threads already in place on the same page.

Red light in your cabin means someone is locked on to you with AA either from the ground or from the air. In order to shut down another plane you need to get behind the plane and try to shoot then. Dogfighting is a miss and hit affair really. Shooting rockets at an incoming plane isn't gonna do it.

I dont fly planes but you need to listen to the tones given, a clear tone is a positive lock and you should not fire before then really.

Keep them in your crosshairs, you can practise with AA first

When you get a positive lock hold your fire until he flares. once he flares fire your missiles, try to keep your rectile ahead of him if engaged in a sharp turn, this works for me most of the time. Same goes for Anti-Air on the ground, aim in front of them, wait till they flare then fire, don't aim too far in front or you will loose the lock. If a missile is locked onto you just flare, hit your burners and make very sharp turns.

Right, the low tone and red cross means someone has locked onto you and you risk being shot down/hit. Basically it means manouvre the aircraft to miss the missiles. You will have flares if you press X but you need to time their release very well and you can only fire them once every 20 seonds or so.

Right, you need to manouvre your plane behind the jet you want to shoot down, and keep it in view, this will engage a high pitched tone to tell you that the plane is being tracked, after a few seconds a square will appear around the circle that covers the enery jet. Once this square is engaged then fire your missiles. I usually fire one first and they guy will drop his flare, then fire another 2 and it should take him out.

If you press F you will switch to your bombs, these are buggers to use when you are new, and i cant use them properly. Whether their is a lockon system similar to the missile i dont know, but i havent seen one and as far as a i know these are totally manually released.

You do not need to land to be reloaded or repaired, just have a slow run over a runway and it will rearm you and repair a few bar of your health. If you have very low health you should really land or fly until your shot down.

Sorry for any spelling mistakes.
