Battle Field 2.

would this run ok on a rather aged system I have:

P4 2.8ghz
2GB RAM
AGP 7800GS OC

From what I've seen of it, it looks like a good game, a bit like Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, is that right?

Is is still popular online?

Valve

Should run fine, depends on the intended resolution.

I used to run it on an A64 3700+, 2GB RAM and a 7900 GTX (did have one before that I think).

Theres always a selection of 10+ european 64 man servers that are nearly full, plus hundreds of others.

Be careful if you are running an OC with stupid fast ram in Vista 64 Bf2 , does not like it .

You will load very very quickly and more times than not the server will quick you out .

From my experience http://bf2s.com/player/65414354/ (and I am probably one if not the the most experinced players on this forum , 2350 hours  ) BF2 runs a lot more snappier and better on a sytem running 32 bit XP with 2 giggs of ram .

Why i dual boot into a cut down version of XP to run BF2 on , I am sure that he net code is different on XP to Vista or something as I can get far better hit reg playing XP than Vista ..

If your just pubbing then Vista will be fine .

just installed this game for fitrst time in about 5-6 months, but keep getting 1-2 second pause every 40 secs or so

ive updated punk buster through there update client, so not that! its my router i think as that is the only thing that as changed since i last played

just tried portforward.com program but its saying my sky router hasn't enough memory for 15 port forwards, so do you know what the main ports are that i need to be forwarding?

thats what i got the program off dude, theres to many ports to put in sky's **** netgear router, cheers anyway mate

does anyone know if project reality uses a ridiculously amount of ports to?

Its not. BF2 is just crap in that respect. It all jumpy for the first 5 minutes then its ok. Ive always put this down to some networking thing and not memory/cpu/graphics

I would love to see a patch that actually fixed this and the terrible lobby for joining games. So many more people would play if the lobby was like Soldier of fortune 2 or Medal of honour
