Battleborn - open beta available on PS4

If you've never heard of it, it's the latest game from Borderlands developer, Gearbox.

I'm not sure what to make of it. It seems to me like a poor rip-off of Borderlands. The silly humour that was dumped all over you in Borderlands 2 is back, much to my annoyance as I felt it was the right mix in Borderlands 1 before Handsome Jack came along.

I've played the first mission and came away feeling underwhelmed. I suppose it comes alive with 4 players but I felt Borderlands was fine in solo mode, this just doesn't.

Played some MP last night with a friend and thought it was crap. No idea what we were supposed to be doing! No feedback when you're shooting at people. I deleted it after 2 games.

I'm not entirely sure but it seems to be completely online based, too. When you start the game, you have to wait to be connected to a server to even play story private mode. You can't pause the game and come back later because you're kicked off the server after 2 hours total time. And you can't stop playing an episode midway through either. If you quit, you go back to the start.

I think half the problem is people didn't give it a chance and didn't know what they were doing. Others seemed to be expecting Overwatch which of course it is not.

Like above I played it once for about 15 minutes and decided I didn't like it... the next day I decided to give it another go with a friend and loved it. Actually have it on pre-order now and looking forward to the release.

Not surprised really, competing with Overwatch and in the end there are loads of free mobas like Lol, Dota and Smite, why would I pay full price for one?

Its a completely different game to Overwatch I don't understand why people compare it to Overwatch.

I think it looked fun and want to pick it up - but worry there isn't enough active players on it. Maybe now you it's getting so cheap then more people will pick it up eventually

It is different but at the same time it was a multiplayer first person shooter (even if it is a moba) released at the same time as another incredibly popular multiplayer shooter, it's understandable if it got overlooked.
