Battlefield 2 and Vista X64

Does anyone else have issues with this game under Vista 64? It'll be perfectly smooth then slow to a crawl - then speed back up again :/

nope, runs fine. i'd suggest you look at your system error logs incase you are having firewall or access problems

I would also check your video card temps - ensure that you don't have a dust filled HS Cooler as it sounds a little like it might be throttling and that is not a good thing.

It isn't throttling as it runs fine in all other games.

Well up to you - I'd still check your temps to be on the safe side. Other than that it is likely some sort of an incompatibility. Try repatching with the full patch see how that goes, if that doesn't work try a full re-install. Also is it Special Forces or Vanilla? If you have SF installed try uninstalling that.

My temps are fine. I'd checked them anyway. Idle is 65-69 which is good for an 8800GTX.

It's the standard game.

Get the hotfix released by Microsoft.

careful with those - I installed one of the MS hotfixes and it totally killed BF2142
has to uninstall the hotfix to fix it.
