Battlefield 2 BC2 high ping nightmare?!!

Anyone else using your connection at the moment?

Any programs on your computer connected to the internet which could be possibly utilising the bandwidth?

Have you tried resetting your router?

Do you only get high pings in BC2 or are they there outside of the game as well, use pingtest.net to check.

If the high ping is still there then disable all start up programs and services other than the stock windows services and check your ping again, is it still high?

If it truely is a bad connection then do as Robert said and contact your supplier to tell them there is a problem with your connection and it's not fit for purpose. I suggest you approach them more calmly than here though or you won't get anywhere.

Just did ping test using that site pingtest.net

got 185 ping to manchester 50miles away with jitter 45ms. How is that?

If i do speed tests using http://www.speedtest.net/ i get ping 45 only!!!

What about everything else in the post, did you take any of that into account? A ping on it's own is only a symptom of the problem, to find the solution you must eliminate the possible roots.

When you got the lower ping on speedtest did you go back to pingtest and try it again to verify your initial result? Does speedtest constantly give you a low result over multiple tests?

They should both give you approximately the same value.

If you do continue to get high pings using either of these then look at what other programs are running/people using the connection as outlined in my previous post.

1. only have avg antiviruls & comodo firewall (game setting)

2. yes

3.ok using pingtest get about 20 average ping over 10 tires...

4. pretty much runing stock win services...


What else?
 
I had this on VM with my 50MB connection, happened all of a sudden, rang them up and after 3 calls finally got told it would be sorted on the 19th of Feb as there was some kind of issue, it went back to normal at the start of March
