20 gs5 6515 6515

I have also Disabled SPI Firewall.

Updated punk buster

Only way i play is if i don't use the router but that not a option when other people need internet.

I read that i need a static ip as my ip changes every time i boot up but just to test it i made all open ports for the ip i have set atm.

So it should work for now but still no change and i cannot see anything whats on the router that could be messing with the game.

Thanks for any help.

download pbsvc and run that also, you should not have to open ports on your router, did u update the game with the latest patch also

You don't need to open ports on your router to play BF2, I used to play fine on my 614v9.
You also don't need a static IP either.

Sounds like your router is messing with the connection - I'd be tempted to try and factory reset it and try again

I got BF 2 off steam and it updated by steam so i guess its updated ok i think to 1.5 patch.

I don't have to open ports on my router ? well it don't seem to do anything anyways lol.

I do have UPnP turned on.

Do i need UPnP on or off ?

Thanks.

I'm not sure what the fascination with forwarding ports for server based games - maybe it goes back to the days where people played peer to peer.

Also, uPNP is not required, in fact I have it disabled.

Anyways... what's the actual problem. Do you not see the servers, or do you get a network connection failure when connecting? Do you get any messages?

I just looked on Google when i first had problems and most info i seen said open ports so first thing i did to see if i could fix it myself.

Ok i just went on bf2 to get a pic of the error i was am getting and for some reason i am connecting to server ok now every time.

But it done that before for a while then back to connection failed so see what happens.

The error i was getting is when i click join to say some like.
(((connection failed please check your network connection)))

I can see severs fine but using the router it don't seem like to load all of them and takes longer to load them into the server browser as well.

Might be the NAT table filling up too much - it was a really common problem back in the day with many 10's of thousands of Counter Strike servers.

When I refresh I only see about 800 servers these days, but I only play on 3-4 in my favorites anyway.
