Battlefield 2 details/name change

Hi,

I recently bought Battlefield 2 second hand.

The guy I bought it from gave me the username and password for the online account and all was perfect, I have been playing in game today.

In his account he has gone up one or two ranks and unlocked some stuff, I'd prefer to start my own account so I can gain the ranks myself.

The best way to do this would be for me to create another account... but I was just wondering if I can? Will EA allow it?

If I can't, then is there any way I can change my details and username please? I can't find anywhere to change them :(

EDIT

Also, me and my bro would love to play on LAN with bots. He doesn't have his own battlefield 2 so he'd be using mine with my CD-key... is there any way I can host a game with bots & allow him to join?

Thanks,
Craig.

Okay, I have found where to change my username, email and details: www.gamespyid.com

But, I'd be even happier if it was possible to make myself a brand new account so I can get my own rewards and stats. Would EA allow that?

Thanks,
Craig.

i borrowed my bro in laws BF2 game.

Fresh install, created a new account and password and works fine. I didnt need his login and password info.

How much did you play and how long has the account been active?

I'm a bit wary when it comes to making more than one account under the same cd-key... the creators of the game usually ban the account for that.

Thanks for the quick reply :)
Craig.

we both play constantly, and have been doing so for over a year now.

I do have my own copy of BF2 but ive never installed it, just incase the piracy police start complaining :)

We have never played at the same time however, as one of you need the CD to play. So we swap and share, or i could use mine but im playing BF2142 now :)

Yeah Craig321, its not like Counter Strike Source and Steam where one copy can be used only by one Steam account.

Just create a new account and use that one :)

Macabre on these forums has about 10 accounts!

Cool, thanks guys!

I was actually just reading on the EA BF2 site and they have a section warning you when you create a new account on BF2 your rank gets reset etc etc... so it looks like they have nothing against it.

And my last question (for now :p): Is there any way me and my brother can play on LAN with bots.

We did it in the demo like this:

I create Single Player game on an online account, he logs into another account, goes to multiplayer, clicks join with IP and he enters my LAN IP in there... that worked perfectly.

Now the problem with doing that on the full version is that we'd both have to be logged in at the same time using the same cd-key, I guess that's when EA start banning cd-keys, when they realise it's being used on 2 accounts at the same time?

Thanks,
Craig.

Now im guessing here but, disconnect from the net, and start your own game up with punkbuster turned off. Get your brother to try and connect. It will either accept it and conenct or come up with an CD-key error.

As your playing off line on your own server with punkbuster turned off, there is no way your account will get locked.

I'm fairly new to Battlefield 2, but I was under the impression to play single player, I had to still login to my account which needed the Internet.

If you can play BF2 with no Internet, please tell me!

yes that is single player , create on offline account , sorted

once you have bought BF2 the serial is unique to your account, and you can create many many many char names
however, only one char can play online for that account at a time
whereas in a LAN situation say Hamachi you can all play using the same account, with diff names
confused? good

Is it a LAN server I'd create or just a normal single player game like I used to?

Hmm, also, I need to make a single player game under an online account so then he can login through multiplayer... that's the only way I know how to do a LAN bot game :(

The problem with that is that the only way me and my brother can play on LAN with bots is by me creating a single player game with my online account and him connecting to me through multiplayer, so for this to work we'd both need to be logged in at the same time.

boot up BF2, click on Manage Accounts > Single Player > Name

the game will launch in offline mode which you can check by clicking on servers which will show as blank

hope that helps fella :)

Anyone got any idea if an offline account communicates with LAN?

YES ; we use Hamachi for BF2, its a free program that creates a 'virtual' LAN with name and password
everyone who wants to join the LAN server logs into the hamachi , then joins via LOCAL in BF2 iirc

its easy to do, gluck

Hmm, I had a look at it, but I'm not sure how I'm going to do a LAN game with bots using that?

Any chance you could help me through making a LAN game with bots using hamachi please?

Thanks,
Craig.
