Hey All,

Been playing Battlefield 2 since the release day and had no problems at all.

The problems all started when I installed Vista and I got this error when joining any punkbuster enabled server;

get.php

At first I thought it must be a problem with Vista so this was an excuse to move back over to XP.

So this afternoon I try and run it on XP and get exactly the same problem.

Now my CD key is real and I have never used any form of hacks on the game so I am totally confused to why I have been banned.

I have sent a ticket to punk buster and I am just waiting for a reply but people say the chance of getting the ban lifted is slim.

Any ideas...

Thanks, Sam

GUID BAN ... Sounds like you've been properly banned. Try registering a new account? Make sure you haven't modified anything (e.g. to get rid of intro videos etc).

Else, contact EA. Not as if they'll care, but worth a try...

I havent modded anything, only thing I can think of is that I have used a no cd mini image since day one but not had any problems with that at all.

Modding the videos will not get you a ban
No but you can change a config file to stop showing the videos, which apparently fails a client check or something

Hrm yeah, me too but I have no problems so I dont think it's that.
(I hate using CD's, especially for multiplayer games where I can only hack 15 minutes at a time!)

Nope modding the movie files does not get a ban.I and many others have done it also xfire bypasses these when entering a game so how could it be banned?

I would try removing PB from BF2 then going onto the PB website and install it again.I had to do this once for doing something as simple as upgrading GFX Card!

GUID ban is a CD KEY ban.. can be caused if PB has tried taking screenshots of your game to check for hacks, but has failed in doing so, i believe this is a B1 screenshot... not sure though.

That sounds about right to me.

Reply from Punkbuster

The GUID you supplied was logged using a cheat that tried to prevent
detection by PB. The method used is considered by us to interfere with
the way PB is designed to work, therefore violating our EULA.

If you were not cheating, then someone was either using your computer
or your CD key and was caught.

Either way, your GUID was used to try to hack on PB servers and it is
now permanently banned. You may still play on non-PB servers as our
bans only apply to servers with PunkBuster enabled.

Hmmm...

I wonder what could have been blocking it

HACKER! ;)

But seriously, PB is screwy about what it picks up. It detects stuff that is on your HDD, even if it's not in memory. So if you're downloaded any, even without using them, it will still ban you, kinda like guilty until proven innocent. AFAIK, the whole BF2 hacks thing is a paid-for only thing and the free ones are few and far between. I used to get kicked from ET servers, even though i hadn't downloaded or used any hacks. It then stopped. I always figured it was because they'd updated the engine or something. Is it possible that an AV could have blocked it or something?

PB have started up a new scheme that will be particularly popular with clan servers, they aim to establish a network so when one server bans you for whatever reasion, if it directly contradicts with PB rules, if that report is sent to them then you could find yourself banned from well over 600 servers. It somtimes happens where you get banned from a server for no reason. It happened to me the other day and it also happened on another game. Nothing too serious to worry about if your not running any cheats, but what i would suggest is, if you have downloaded any mods for any unranked servers, check your files because you could have downloaded a file that the server doesnt like. Its common with no cd patches, the server reads it as a malicious file/hack and kicks or bans you.

i've been banned from COD:UO permanently for using a "cheat" - i think its outrageous that they can ban you without telling you what you've done and where the file is located. You've paid you £20 or whatever and thats made redundant without any explaination. I hate the SS way that PB operates
