Battlefield 2 problem

I installed BF 2 last night on my PC, but when trying to create an online account the screen just hangs showing account been created, the music still plays but nothing else happens. I can't use the windows kewy to minimise and quit and CRTL+ALT+DEL doesn't work either, I end up having to power my Pc down.

Has anyone else had this problem or know if it is a known fault?

Yes Ive had a similar problem in the past after I login the screen/game hangs and nothing happens for ages until I get a failed login message ..... this has always been due to problems at the EA/Dice end. Did you try again today ?

don't forget to patch it to 1.41 if you want to play online ... and don't worry if you dont get a lot of servers listed upon first server refresh as there is a few isssues atm with Gamespy. Hope it works for you .

I didn't install the gamespy client, I take it it's needed to play online?

You don't need the gamespy client.

No, no need to install that.

Also if it ever hangs on the login bit again just pull out your network cable, makes it time out quicker.

As mentioned above dont bother with Gamespy client .... it is just Gamespy runs the server listings in BF2

give it time, sometimes it takes ages to even login and will cancel itself after like 3mins or so, same with creating a new account.
