Just found the complete collection for a tenner. Had this game when it first came out and it was immense. Im wondering if i should take the plunge again and im wondering if it will have kept my rank on ea's server so i get my guns again :P
 
I would imagine your account still exists. I say go for it, vanilla still has loads of people on it as does special forces (in asia anyway) :P
 
EA don't delete accounts so your should still be there.

I left mine for about 2 years and it was still there when i got the Complete Collection earlier this year.
 
Well I upgraded to the 1.5 beta 3 patch yesterday as it was the only way I could get the game to not CTD under Vista x64 and there only seemed to be 3 servers which was a shame. Still had a good laugh though but it is plagued with some pillocks of the highest order.

Are there any 1.5 beta 3 servers for the Reality Mod? Downloaded that and have been thinking about giving it a go.
 
Same boat. :) I found my old copy of BF2 the other day, might give it an install and download the updates this afternoon. I'm gonna be absolute pants at it but hey, should be fun. If anybody here plays then post your Xfire or something, I plan on downloading that later too. :)

The 1.5 patch is out but it appears to be a BETA. I'm just in the middle of downloading the 536MB 1.41 full file and also the 1.26GB 1.50 Beta file.

It doesn't mention wether the BETA file is actually a full patch, at that size it should definitely be but I don't want to risk waiting the 2 hours downloading it to find out that it's not.

By the way if anybody is interested then the link is here. Please note that you'll have to scroll down slightly on that link to view the locations of the BETA download, and also please be aware that with the BETA patch you can only play on the BETA servers.

FEATURES
- Additional support for Windows Vista.
- Added Highway Tampa as a required map.
- Added a new map called Operation Blue Pearl.
- Added support for Widescreen resolutions
- Added support for the Novint Falcon controller

GAMEPLAY TWEAKS
- Changes made to both the J10 and F35B to make them more balanced. Please note that the J10 is a superior dogfighter to the F35B and as such these two aircraft will never be equally matched.
- AA targeting tweaked to make it more effective.
- Added checks to prevent "runway grieving".
- Various changes made to prevent cheating.
- Tweaked the hit detection, hits will be more accurate to the model
- Increased the time to go prone after jumping from 0.3 seconds to 0.7 seconds
- Fixed G36E HUD during sprinting to match other weapons.
 
The beta is the last patch, it's never going to make it out of beta. I loved BF2, would love to get into it again but I just can't get it to work with Vista64, I either get BF2 crashing, or punkbuster errors, or get kicked off servers as soon as I join them by PB :\

Might be a daft question but have you opened all the ports needed by punkbuster on your router? Tried the manual updating method with punkbuster as well? Im running on vista 64 and have 0 problems with BF 2
 
Awesome game i just hate the swan diving thing but yeah awesome game.
cant go wrong with bf 2
its an all time classic i still play it from prolly 3 years ago.
they were whey ahead of their time

play it, its really cheap now anyhow, lots of mods out for it now for you to get stuck into

enjoy it.. soo much fun to be had..
