On the road....
I have a mate who's forum shy it seems, he has an issue with BF2 and its apparent inability to run at say 1680x1050 iirc without what he describes as a slight blurring of the image on screen.

After a bit of googling, I've told him you have to do a little resolution hack -
Go to the BF2 shortcut and add +szx 1680 +szy 1050
e.g.
"X:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

Is this correct? I ask as I don't personally have a widescreen to try it out on, still in the dark ages here! :o

Thanks.

When I tried a widescreen hack a whiles back it did effect punkbuster - was a different on though. I now use the +szx 1680 +szy 1050

just a heads up,

yeah thats correct, but there is also a widescreen fixer app out, which adjusts the ratio of the screen to the correct aspect. Not been pb banned yet for using it. And it does say on the site that pb have said its not a cheat or such.

At work so dont have a link sorry :(

That won't get him into trouble on-line with the likes of Punkbuster will it? - He's got a nice rig, but a complete newbie.

he will be fine if he uses version 1.32, it has been approved :)

lol sorry didnt see that hidden in there :(

but yep thats the one.

Have been using it when playing for the last couple of months now with no issues what so ever.

tom,

the shortcut does not correct the problem, it gets you running at the res you want, but its not widescreen (obviously you need a widescreen mon to see the problem)

The map in the top right is oblong instead of circular and so on.

Using the app above actually pans the camer back abit, so that you have the correct display aspect.

also you can substitute the +fullscreen for +widescreen, again this doesnt fully work though.

So this should cure the "Blur ing" he's seeing? - Not got a widescreen here either, my mate has a 24in Samsung TFT
