I've recently (bit late I know) taken to playing BF2042

After a few games with no issues, I'll get kicked out because of lost connection. I can reconnect and the same will happen 2-3 times in a row although no issues with my internet (son will be playing in the other room online so I know its ok or he'd be shouting!)

I've uninstalled, and reinstalled - allowed the firewall access and same again. I'll get a few good games with no issues and then lost connections.

It gets really annoying, any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is a firewall somewhere might be interrupting the connection.

Something like the ports are allowed for example and then when the game tries to access a different set of ports for whatever reason those ports are blocked and it closes the connection.

Check your routers firewall. However don't turn it off completely as you need your firewall on on the router for security.

Maybe check if upnp is enabled. It's an old feature so probably doesn't exist any more but it allows the router to dynamically open ports.

Other than that can't help much.

Do any other online games have issues?

Wired. I ran cables around earlier in the year to make everything wired

No issues with any other gaming either on my pc with other games or on ps5 or on my sons Xbox so seems to be either game related or due to something on my PC

Could it be some kind of issue with the anti cheat? Are there any logs you can view afterwards once it disconnects?

Tried, and it seemed to be ok.

Tried both Cloudfare and Google DNS - unfortunately, still dropped after a couple of games but would reconnect straight away and let me join but after few minutes, drop the game still :(

Many many years ago during the BF4 era I had a problem with BF4 and it turned out it was my isp who was blocking some ports.

What is your ping like when you are in game?

If both you and your son are playing BF at the same time it could be that, back in the day (BF3 BF4) this was a common problem. Just google two pcs BF4 kicked ports.. Something like that, you just need to change port settings on one of the PC's

If it is the problem I'm shocked they never fixed this.

Just thought I'd give an update (albeit delayed)

it seems to have sorted itself out, didnt do anything major although was thinking about subscribing to NordVPN - been playing the last few weeks around work with no issues and no drops

Thanks all for your comments
