Battlefield 3 22 minutes crash

Hello all

I am starting this thread on behalf of 2 of my clan mates. Since the release of BF3 neither of them has been able to play a full round without the game crashing every 20-22 minutes (they have both timed it).

They both run different systems:

1 has a GTX570, 8 Gig ram, 850W power supply, a decent Mobo and processor

The other runs 2 Nvidia BFG 9500 in SLI, 1200W power supply, 8 Gig Ram, a decent Mobo and processor

they both have the lates drivers both run windows 7 ultimate and one lives in England with a 5MB internet connection, the other lives in Scotland with a 40MB connection but they both have the same problem.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? I have googled it and cannot seem to find an answer.

Any overclocks?
Have they monitored temps?
SLi rig, tried with just 1 card?

One is overclocked and 1 isnt. They have both checked temps, no problem there. The one using Sli has tried running with just the 1 card still has the problem.

Its very strange that they both run diffrent setups but have the exact same problem.

True, it does point to a code problem, i.e. the game.

Have they re-installed? DO they run any other software at the same time as the game.

Playing devils advocate I think your friends actually mean the game drops connection (and closes down) every 20 minutes rather than it actually crashes.

Are they both using the same brand of router by any chance?

Yeah if its just timing out not crashing you need to turn upnp off on your router

The '20 minute kick', as we call it, is something three of my clan mates have experienced through BF2, BC2 and BF3.

We have absolutely no idea why it happens. They all live far apart (Central London, Coventry and Lincoln), have different routers and totally different setups.

It is a one-off for them all and we joke about it now as they can come back in ad nthe game will run until they stop, sometimes that being several hours later.

One of life's little mysteries, though must be PB related.

Yup i've been getting this, proving to be a royal pain.
Just keep getting "connection to server has timed out"
Turned off Upnp on the router, so wil give it a whirl when it is patched.
