I built my 1st gaming PC 5 days ago,been playing BF3,Day Z etc etc.

Downloaded a program called CPUID which shows me all temperatures of my components. My GPU (VTX3D Radeon HD 2gb 7870 Black Edition) was running around 85C when i played BF3 and fan was set to 25% and ran like this for 3 days.

Yesterday (Day 4) it hit 98C,it was 32C outside all day so could that of caused a change in temp (my room gets pretty hot),i turned BF3 off immediately and turned fan in Catalyst Control Centre to 70% and even then it was high 80s,today i opened case and ran bf3 with case open and fan on 70% it was around 71-74C,put side panel back on and it was hitting 79-83C,carried on playing and checked it again about 15 mins later and it was 96 and it probably would have kept increasing if i didnt turn it off.

Day Z seems to run around 80-85C with a 65-70% fan speed.

Anyone have any tips for me,im worried my GPU is gonna blow up on me and i only just built this for £800 and cant replace any parts as im now skint.

What's the case, sounds like poor airflow.
The cards are going to run hotter as its bloody hot, so 85c is fine. 98c however :D

I'd make sure the inside of the case is tidy and make sure (if you do) have the front/side intakes blowing the correct way.

25% was the auto fan speed, someone on toms hardware advised me to put fan on 70% after i reported the high temps 1st time,i have the Sharkoon T9 case with cable management, seems pretty tidy in there, the 2 fans sucking air in the front dont feel like they are bringing a lot of air in when i put my hands infront of them and the back fan seems to be working fine, chucking out a lot of hot air when i game

Fan is now set to Auto,i will play bf3 quick and report back temps

I unchecked Enable Manual Fan Control - is that on auto now?

Ok i turned off Enable Manual Fan Control and the max temp i got then through a whole round Of Operation Metro - Rush was 83C,Is that bad?

Maybe manually controlling the fans made it cook upto 98C...not sure whats going on right now!!!

shouldnt be that hot regardless unless case is very bad or gpu issue.

it will operate at that temp but not good even in this hot weather.

Maybe the higher fan speed was dumping the heat too quickly in the case and just causing it to cook, 83c is fine, nothing to worry about, your temps will obviously go down when the temps finally get back to normal! (-10c is comfortable weather for me!)
