Hey guys. Hope this is the right sub-forum. While playing Battlefield 3 I get random freezes every now and again, it went for a while but now it's back, can play the game for 10 minutes or so and it freezes causing me to reboot my system. I was wondering if anyone has any answers or can show me how to find out what's causing the problem? Would really appreciate the help.

Sounds like it could be a memory error or even an over heating error, have you checked your blue screen reports to see why it has crashed? Looked in Event Viewer to give you some clues?

More information is needed please :)

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Is the only error I can find relating to the system freezing, or am i looking at the wrong place? I'm using the Ultima Viper System, I thought it may of been because of the Radeon 5570 I'm using but it seems fine sometimes and the fps/game play is not an issue.

I used the Origin Repair Install option last night and it didn't crash, gonna try it again and see the results. Thanks for the reply.

Edit: Looking through most of my errors on Event Viewer are things to do with Windows like 'License Activation (slui.exe) failed with the following error code:
0x800401F9'

Have you looked at time and date specific to your crashes? You will need to look under system and the applications sections.

Also the 5570 is an extremely poor card for playing BF3 on my old 5770 struggled! What screen resolution are you running the game at? How is this card cooled does it have any extra power requirements? (it could be pulling to much juice through the pci-e bus and causing the crash). What the full system spec? And I mean everything inside your case.

I've got a link here to my CPU-Z specs. Hope this is sufficient.

I had to download a configuration to play BF3, pretty much all the options to low and it changes a few details in the mouse acceleration and stuff. The card itself has a fan on, along with all the fans on the computer (besides the top one) set to high. I'm playing at 1920 x 1080.

In that case its probably your graphics card over heating and causing the crash. Are you getting BSOD's? What do they say.

Nah, no BSOD - the system just freezes and I can't do anything but restart. Thanks again for helping me out, really appreciate it.

Edit: If it is my graphics card, could you suggest any that would be great for BF3? £300 being my limit. Thanks

I think you will find its to do with the patch since armoured kill came out, I have had a similiar problem with mine too, im running 680's in sli and under water, and I seem to have solved it by creating a user.cfg file and putting this in it...

RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1
RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0
WorldRender.SpotLightShadowmapEnable 0

Thanks bigboy, definitely getting that or a similar card to the end of this week. My config I have already disabled those options egg, thanks though. The free games that come with the card look ghood too

Apologies for double post, not seeing a delete button either.
