the game is playing fine in all high settings around 80 ~ 100 fps , but every five or so minutes fps goes down to 29 and then it goes back up causing annoying stutter.

using 6970 with 11.11 Drivers

ta.

can be a sign your running out of video ram.

how much ram is on your card?

even med/high settings with 2xaa @ 1920x1080 bf3 can gobble 1gb easy so if youve got everything maxed out with 4xaa the game is going to be wanted around 1.5gb vram if not more

i know on my 1gb card if i turn the settings to high and run out of video ram i get annoying stuttering everttime the game tries to cache anything

Few of my mates complained of the same thing when using Firefox. Initially they just alt+tabbed out of the game once on a server and closed Firefox which seemed to do the trick at the time. Not sure if it's still an issue though

I play on a 1GB 6870, all Ultra except Shadows (high), 2xmsaa, low post processing and 8x AF and don't get any stuttering. I also run Aero on the desktop. However, on my laptop with a 1GB 5870 it runs out of VRam with Aero turned off...

When you say stutter you mean FPS rate drops? Or like you're walking in Treacle in game? :p

u dont need to close firefox aslong as u disable its hardware acceleration.

if you have hardware acceleration turned on in firefx it uses 100-200mb of vram

Take off all overclocks, including CPU and report back.

My 960 was OC'd to 4Ghz and I was getting spikes like you. I reverted it to stock and the game runs smooth now. Really odd.

I've been suffering with this, on and off, since it was released. Really destroyed the experience to the point where I haven't played it for weeks. I've tried all sorts, although never tried looking into Firefox causing it so I think I'll be trying that next.
